A Vision for Home

“I was born and raised here, I live and work here. Jack and I are raising our three children here and I love our community.

I am passionate about building a better future for our next generations. I will do everything possible to maximize the abundant potential of Senate District 12.”

– Wendy Draper

Meet Wendy Ghee Draper

Wendy Draper was born and raised in Calhoun County, and is one of seven children of Brenda and Doug Ghee. After attending Anniston High School, Wendy earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama, and received a Juris Doctor from Cumberland School of Law. For the past 22 years she has practiced law at Ghee, Draper & Alexander, where her focus is probate and family law, with a special passion for working with families to facilitate adoption.

Wendy’s love for her community and state has led to decades of public service. In addition to serving on the Board of Directors at her children’s school, she sits on the Board of Directors for the Family Service Center. Wendy also serves as a Certified Guardian Ad Litem for the State of Alabama, advocating for children in the foster care system, and is an advocate for Save-A-Life.

She is a past member of the Alabama Foster & Adoptive Parent Association Board of Directors, Executive Committee for Calhoun-Cleburne Bar Association, Calhoun County Library Board of Directors, and Alabama Wildlife Center Board of Directors.

Wendy and her husband Jack are members of St. Michael & All Angels Church. They reside in Anniston with their three daughters, Lily Grace, Harper, and Mary Yonce.

Wendy’s passion is adoptions, and the Draper family was blessed with their youngest daughter through adoption. Jack Draper has been Mayor of Anniston since 2016 and is currently serving his second term.

Wendy has been practicing law for 22 years. The family law firm was started in 1970 by her father, and she works along with 4 of her siblings. Doug Ghee also served in the Alabama Senate from 1990-1998.

“Our family has witnessed first hand the love and dedication that Wendy has not only for her clients, but for her community and strangers as well. As we longed for our daughter, Wendy was on the front lines doing everything she could to ensure we would bring our baby girl home. Wendy spent countless hours and energy to make sure my husband and I could fulfill our calling of adoption, even after two biological children. She treats every client she has like they are her own family, and values the life of children before and after they are born. She ensures that education and community involvement are in the forefront of conversation and her faith as the root of her work. Throughout this experience, Wendy has become an imperative puzzle piece to our family and will always hold a special place in our hearts. We are forever grateful! Our support stands with Wendy Ghee Draper as our voice in the Alabama State Senate, and she could be your voice too!”
